- 3/4 cup,yellow pegion peas (toor dal),cooked,mashed
- Tempering
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 2 dry red chillies
- 2-3 curry leaves
- Water as required
- Salt as required

- Heat a pan,add 2tbsp of oil.once it is hot add shallots,green chilli and a few curry leaves.sauté till shallots are slightly translucent.add chilli powder,turmeric powder and salt,sauté till it turns aromatic.

- Once this boils add the cooked dal and boil.Add tamarind juice and boil for 5 minutes.
- In a heated pan add two tsp of oil,add mustard seeds and allow to splutter.add dry chilli and curry leaves.add sambhar powder and sauté well.add,a cup boiled and cooled water and mix well.pour this to cooked gravy and mix well.
- Bring to boil on medium to Low flame for 10 minutes.adjust consistency with boiled and cooled water.Boil well and sprinkle a few chopped coriander leaves.serve hot with rice..
