  1. 250 gram Spinach
  2. as required Water (for blanching palak)
  3. as per taste Salt
  4. 1/2 cup Chana dal
  5. 1/2 cup Toor dal
  6. 1/2 cup Masoor dal
  7. 1/2 tsp Turmeric
  8. 1 liter Water
  9. 2 tbsp Ghee
  10. 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
  11. 1 pinch Asafetida
  12. 1 tsp Ginger and garlic paste
  13. 3-4 Green chillies
  14. 2 Onion medium
  15. 1/2 tsp Turmeric
  16. 2 Tomatoes medium
  17. 1 tsp Coriander powder
  18. 1 tsp Red Chilli powder
  19. as per taste Salt
  20. 1 tsp Lemon juice
  21. 1/2 tsp Garam Masala powder
  22. 2 tbsp Fresh chopped coriander
  23. Ingredients for tempering
  24. 2 tbsp Ghee
  25. 1 tsp Chilli powder
  26. 1/2 Onion thinly sliced
  27. 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
  28. 1 pinch Asafetida
  29. 2 Whole red Chilli

Instructions to make to make Dal palak | Palak Dal Recipe | #boxweek7

  1. Into a pressure cooker add dal's, water, turmeric and salt mix well and cook for 3-4 whistle
  2. In a pan heat water, once heated add cleaned and chopped palak cook for a min
  3. Palak is blanched, remove from hot water and immediately transfer it to iced water, let it sit for a few seconds and then take off
  4. Meanwhile dal is well cooked, gently mash it
  5. Into a kadai add 3 tbsp of ghee, add cumin seeds and asafetida
  6. Then add green chillies and saute well
  7. Add onion and cook until translucent, then add ginger garlic paste and saute until the raw smell of ginger garlic paste is gone
  8. Add tomatoes and saute well, then add turmeric powder
  9. Chilli powder, coriander powder and salt saute well. Sprinkle some water if its too dry (to avoid burning)
  10. Saute well and cook until tomatoes are mushy
  11. Once tomatoes are mushy, add the blanched palak and mix well, cook for a min then add cooked and mashed dal
  12. Mix well, add some water and adjust the consistency and allow it to boil
  13. Once dal is boiled squeeze half a lemon, garam Masala and freshly chopped coriander leaves
  14. Stir well and cook for a minute, then switch off the flame.
  15. In a tempering kadai, add ghee, cumin seeds and hing
  16. Add whole red chilli, onion
  17. And cook until golden brown, then add red chilli powder and saute and switch off the flame.
  18. Add the tadka on dal palak, and here you go it's perfectly ready to be served
  19. Serve hot with rice, chapathi or paratha
