- 1/2Cup Red Lentil,Laal Masoor Dal
- 1 Onion finely Chopped
- 1 Tomato finely Chopped
- 5-6 Garlic Cloves
- 2 Tbsp Oil
- 2Tbsp Butter
- 1Tsp Red Chilli Powder
- 1/2 Tsp Turmeric Powder
- 1/2Tsp Garam Masala Powder
- 1/2 Tsp Amchur Powder Few Curry Leaves
- as required Finely Chopped Coriander Leaves
- to Taste Salt
- For Tadka:-
- 2Tbsp Pure Ghee
- 6-7 Garlic Cloves (Sliced)
- 3-4 Dried Whole Red Chilli
- 1Tsp Cumin seeds
- 1/2 Tsp Red Chilli Powder
Steps to make to make Dhaba Style Dal Khichdi
- 1. Take around 1 litre of Water in a Pot,add 2Tsp Salt
2. Cover and let it Boil
3. When water starts boiling, add Rice,cook it uncovered till Rice is almost cooked - 4. Wash Dal and Pressure cook it by adding 2Cups of Water and 1/2Tsp Turmeric Powder,till 4 Whistle
5. Let it depressurize by itself, open the lid and mash it lightly by adding little Water
6. Take Oil and Butter in a Pot - 7. Add Cumin Seeds,Garlic and curry leaves
8. Let it cook for few seconds - 9. Add Onion,cook till it starts turning brown
10. Add Turmeric powder,Red chilli powder and Amchur Powder
11. Cook it by adding little Water for 1min
12. Add Tomato,cover and cook it by adding little Water, till Tomato turns mushy
13. Add Dal, adjust the consistency by adding Water
14. Cover and cook for 2-3mins
15. Add Rice, Coriander Leaves, Garam Masala Powder and Salt to Taste
16. Cover and cook for 2-3mins
17. Remove it in Serving Plate
18. Add 2Tbsp Ghee in Tadka Pan - 19. When Ghee is hot, add Cumin Seeds, Garlic,Dried Red Chillies,cook till Garlic starts turning brown
20. Turn Off the flame, wait for a min,then add Red Chilli Powder
21. Pour the Tadka on Top of Khichdi
22. Serve it Hot with Pickle and Papad
