  2. 1 medium tomato
  3. 1 dry red chilli
  4. 2-3 slit green chilli
  5. 1 tsp Paanch Phoron

  7. 2-3 tbsp Mustard oil for total cooking
  8. 1 tbsp Ghee
  9. 2 bay leaf
  10. 8-10 cashews
  11. 100 gram paneer
  12. 8-10 raisins
  13. 1/2 of 1 small coconut
  14. 1/2 tsp Sugar
  15. 1 tbsp ginger paste

Steps to make to make Bahari Dal

  1. Soak Daal overnight, roughly chop tomatoes.
  2. Pressure cook Daal in sufficient water along with tomatoes + green chilli + salt and give 7-8 whistles.
  3. Cut paneer into small pieces, cut coconut into small small pieces.
  4. Marinade paneer pieces with slight salt + turmeric and keep for 10 - 15 minutes, then fry then till golden brown and keep aside.
  5. Now fry cashews till golden brown and keep aside.
    Fry coconut by adding very little salt + turmeric and fry till golden brown and keep aside.
  6. Now in same pan / kadhai, add oil, add paanch phoron + bay leaf + red chilli + ginger paste and allow to crackle, then add boiled Daal along with water + turmeric powder and mix well.
  7. Now cook for 3-4 minutes, then add fried coconut + paneer + fried cashews + raisins and simmer for 4-5 minutes under medium flame.
  8. Now add ghee, mix well, simmer for 1-2 minutes and Daal is ready.
  9. Serve with steamed rice or roti / paratha / Puri.
